BritPool Tournament Rules


Most rules are based on standard 1v1 rules, with any variations listed below.
If you have any questions on, please ask the TD BEFORE you shoot.
It is your responsibility to read the rules before joining any tournament.

TOURNAMENT GAME RULES




ABC

Played On Rated/Protected Tables.
YOU MUST SINK YOUR BALLS IN THIS ORDER: BLUE, GREEN. ORANGE, PINK, PURPLE, RED, YELLOW.
No force forfeits and sink all balls in order . If you sink the wrong ball you tap the cue to give opponent ball in hand. If you sink your ball in the right order AND another goes in, you keep your turn.

ALL BANKS AND COMBOS 3 BALL

Played on a training table.
Player 1 sets the rack but with only 3 balls..and cue ball behind the line. Break as normal, then the rest of your shots have to be a bank or a combo shot, trying to make all your balls in in the least amount of shots. Your opponent should help and type in the count after each shot for you, this way both are paying attention and should be no disputes. If you scratch..ball goes behind line shooting outside of the line. No adjacent wall banks allowed. Player with 3 balls in in least amount of shots wins.

1... If you lose your first game, please wait for your second chance. You must lose twice to be eliminated from the tourney.
2... Every game played on a "fresh" 8-ball/no timer, protected & rated tables. Player on the upper tab invites the player on the lower tab. TD will make table for final and invite the two players.
All games are played as 1v1 format.
3... All BP League Rules apply in this tournament. TD has final decision. You must lose twice to be eliminated from this tourney. Good luck and have fun playing 1v1 DOUBLE ELIMINATION.

BANK 8 NO CUE

Tables To Be Protected/Rated/Tables.
You MUST Bank the 8 ball to win. That means you MUST "Bounce" or "Bank" the 8 off at Least one of the walls prior to sinking it. No kick banks allowed (no banking off an adjacent wall) If you shoot without the Bank, You're Disqualified. Ball in Hand is Ok, throughout Tourney .
Scratch on Break is Rerack.

BANK 8 OR CUE

Tables To Be Protected/Rated/Tables.
This is Regular 8 Ball with one Major Exception.
You MUST Bank the 8 ball or the Cue (white) to win . That means you MUST "Bounce" or "Bank" the 8 or Cue off at Least one of the walls prior to sinking the 8 Ball.. If you shoot without the Bank, You're Disqualified. Ball in Hand is Ok, throughout Tourney .
Scratch on Break is Rerack.

BLACK JACK

Played at TRAINING tables,
shoot and stand. First one to 21 is winner. Ball values as follows
.-yellow 1 point,
-blue 2points,
-red 3points,
-purple 4 points,
-orange 5 points,
-green 6 points,
-pink 7 points,
-black 8 points.
ALL STRIPES are 3 points.
Object is 1st to 21 with any combonation of balls. You can bank ANY ball for one point until 21 is reached only if the one ball and two ball have already been sunk. If you go over 21 you lose the game. Rerack if scratch on break, but only if you dont make anything.
NO BALL IN HAND

BLACK N BLUE

Rated tables.
Same as Reg 8 standard rules. When u pocket ur blue ball which can be at ne given time during game is made u announce it to ur opponent at the table and that is where u make ur 8 ball shot.

BOOTEM

TD invites all players to a private training table.
The aim of the bootem is to be the last player remaining at the table. TD breaks, and will continue to do so until he is happy the balls are spread out enough - so no player gains an unfair advantage over the others.
The players take it in turns to have one shot each. ONE shot only, then the player must stand. Each player must make a ball (any ball - solid, stripe or black). If the player misses, or scratches - they are then out of the tourney and will be booted from the table by the TD.
The players shoot in alphabetical order - or in other words top to bottom as listed at the right hand side of the table. None of the balls (including the Cue Ball) must not be moved at any stage during the game! If the player before you scratches, you must place the cue ball behind the line, and attempt to shoot a ball that is NOT behind the line.
If a player is not in room, not sittin for their shot, froze ect at any stage, a timer of only 2 minutes is put on the missing player. If a player uses 1 minute of their time on one shot, then again is slow or absent for the next..the 2 minute timer does not start over, they will have what ever time is left over from the first timer (1 minute). If you are faced with a difficult (almost impossible shot) - you must attempt to make a ball, under no circumstances are you allowed to tap the ball so you will be eliminated and the next person will face the same difficult shot.
If this happens, you will be eliminated from the tournament and the TD may move the cue ball so the next person has an easier shot.

CALL A FRIEND

Played like a regular 8 tourney,
until finals, where each player chooses 'call on a friend' to play finals for them, they may choose anyone in league to play(top bracket chooses first)
The 2 players who are picked to play finals play it as a league game, and must report when tourney finshes.

CALL YOUR SHOTS

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament,
except before you shoot you must call which ball (color and solid-stripe) and which pocket you are trying for. If you do not make your shot, but pocket another ball instead, you must tap cue ball, giving opponent ball in hand.
Failure to do this will be a warning the first time, and the second time DQ.

CENTER POCKETS ONLY

Played on rated and protected tables.
Move the Cue Ball on break.
All players balls are to be played in top or bottom center. If a knock in the corner occurs, tap and give up turn, opponent gets BIH. If you make one in the center pocket AND a corner pocket, continue shooting.
8-ball must also be potted in a center pocket.

COLOR CODED

To be played on training tables with the inviter going first.
Once you break and pot a ball you have to pot the same color ball, like if you knock in the red solid then your next ball to go in is a red stripe etc. (all balls dropped on break are to be put anywhere behind the line by the oppenent).
But if you break and dont make anything then you stand. NO BALL IN HAND ON THE NEXT SHOT AFTER BREAK. If you miss then you stand and your oppontent goes next on the same table (DO NOT RESET THE TABLE AT ANY TIME DURING THE GAME).
There are 2 ways you get ball in hand number 1 if your oppentent scratches and number 2 if your opponent makes the wrong color ball. In case of number 2 all the potted balls that were out of order has to be put behind the line anywhere and the player gets ball in hand.
example I potted both blue ones and then an orange and a green fall well then i would stand and my opponent would take the last ball that fell and put it behind the line and take ball in hand, so all the balls that would be in is both blue ones and either the orange or the green one which either one fell first.
The one who makes the 8 ball after all the balls are potted wins.
The object of the game is to have the solid and stripe of the same color next to each other at the end of the game.

COLOR/NAME FOR 8

Rated table .
Same as regualr 8, but at the beginning of match you will each pick one of your partners balls, a color and name(solid or stripe), and when u make that ball, that is where the 8 must enter when u get to the end of the match. *Say to opp what pocket the "color-ball" went into at the time.

CORNER POCKETS ONLY

Play On Rated & Protected Tables.
Every shot must go into a corner, no shots are allowed to be potted in the center pockets.
If you pot a ball into a center pocket on purpose, you will give your opponent BIH and receive one warning.
If you do it twice, you will be disqualified.
If you make a shot into a center pocket by accident
[due to backwards english or what not] then you will still give opponent BIH, but will not receive a warning. If you pot the 8 [black] into a center pocket, you are disqualified automatically
All Corner Pocket only Tournments are to be played with camtasia or a sutiable program and tape to be set to oppenent.

CRAZY 8

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament
, except when a person gets to the 8.
Before they shoot they have to wait for their opponent to say what pocket they have to hit it in, then that is the pocket designated for the 8 for them for that game

DEFAULT

Same as Reg 8 rules with exception when u get to the 8 ball u must pocket the 8 into the top mid pocket aka as the default pocket.

FULL POWER

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament, except you must shoot every shot with full power.
All Full Power Tournments will be played using camtasia or a suitable program that is to be sent to oppenent.

1v1 Guys & Gals

REG 1V1 EXCEPT GUYS MUST POCKET THEIR BLUE BALL LAST BEFORE GOING FOR THE 8 BALL.
GALS SHOOT THEIR PINK BALL LAST BEFORE SHOOTING THE 8 BALL IF YOU POCKET YOUR OPPONENTS BLUE OR PINK BALL AT ANY TIME.... YOU LOSE AND MUST FORFEIT THE GAME
1... Every game played on a "fresh" 8-ball/no timer, protected & RATED table. Player on the upper tab invites the player on the lower tab. TD will make table for final and invite players.
2... All League Rules apply in this tournament. TD has final decision.

HIGH/LOW

Played on rated and protected tables.
Move the cue ball on break.
Player with stripes must play their balls in the top three pockets.
Player with solids must shoot all balls in bottom three pockets. 8-ball must be played in opponents center pocket.

HIT N HOPE

1. All games are played on protected training tables.
2. You get 5 shots to pot as many balls as possible to get a total score. the break counts as 1 shot, a miss counts as 1 shot. If you pot the white, it can be picked up and placed anywhere behind the line and your turn resumed.
3. The winner is the player who scores the highest points added up from all 5 shots.
4. POINTS: Stripes = 3, Spots = 1, Black = 5.

KILLER

Protected training tables.
Host (person in top bracket) is responsible for table settings.
The order is dertimined by boot order.
You start with 3 Lives each. (3-3- 3), each player shoots ONE time then stands then the next person then shoots.
You may shoot at ANY ball. Cue ball may ONLY be moved on the break and behind the line, otherwise there is NO ball in hand (Not even in the case of a missing 'aiming' line). If you miss or scratch on break, take an extra shot with no life lost.
Do NOT rerack. You lose a life for failure to sink a ball on your shot, scratch, or a wrong turn (eg. you play a turn out of turn), next player shoots from behind the line, to which no balls behind line are to be shot unless the cue ball first goes past the line (meaning a bank off a wall),
you also lose a life for accidental resetting of rack. If a player is booted at any stage, a timer of only 2 minutes is put on the missing player.
Last surviver wins. STOP playing when you have no lives left. When all balls are sunk, rerack and keep shooting

LAST POCKET LP

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament, except the black ball must be potted in the same pocket as your last colored ball.

MAGIC 8 BOOTEM

Played exactly the same as a regular bootem except whoever makes the 8(black) ball gets to pick somone from the tourney they want booted out. No hard feelings, keep it fun.

MERRY GO ROUND

Played like rnr(training table) but balls are sunk in a clockwise fashion, start where u wish(break is free, dont have to use that pocket) but next ball must be sunk next to it in clockwise direction eg. top left, middle top, top right, bottom right, middle bottom, bottom left, top left.. etc Miss, scratch or pot in wrong pocket and u stand, count balls sunk, next person goes, does same, 3 turns each,person with highest ball count at end wins.

MYSTERY POCKET

All tables are rated non timed and protected.
The game is played reg 8 game until the 8 ball. When on the 8 ball you must sink it into the same pocket as which the TD has announced.TD makes choice whether to announce in begining of tourney OR when players get to 8 ask TD in lobby what pocket to shoot 8 in. TD cannot be on tables to announce pocket. If you fail to sink the black in the specified pocket you will not be declared the winner. Whoever sinks 8 ball without asking TD will lose.

NO EASY SHOTS

Every Shot must be banked(cue or regular is fine), or combo(hit 1 ball into another to pot it), no adjacent wall banks(where pocket is joined to same wall u banked off).

NO ENGLISH

Tables To Be Protected/Rated/Tables.
This is Regular 8 Ball with one Major Exception. All Shots MUST be shot with NO English. That means do NOT change the English on the Table. If you shoot and you use English, You're Disqualified. Ball in Hand is Ok, throughout Tourney . Scratch on Break is Rerack.

NO SNOOKERING

Play On Rated/ Protected Tables.
All games are to be played with all normal league rules, except one.
There are no snooker (aka cheap) shots allowed. . You can not tap or hide the cue, in the hopes to get yourself ball in hand, or to give your opponent an impossible leave. You must hit all shots with the purpose of trying to make a ball.
The first time you are caught snookering, it will be assumed it was an accident (mouse slipped ect) and a warning will be issued, and opponent will get bih ( if need be, people must tap cue to get correct person ball in hand). The second time it happens, it will be assumed to be on purpose, and the offending person will be DQ'd and opponent will advance.

RACK N RUN RNR

Play on protected training tables.
The aim of rack n run is to sink more balls than your opponent over a set amount of racks (TD should announce in spam how many racks) .
If you scratch on the break, rerack.
If you scratch or miss at any other time, your turn is over, and it is your opponents turn. You must move the cue ball on the break.
Do not take ball in hand at any stage! The player who sinks the most balls after the set amount of racks is the winner. The player at the top of the bracket goes first.
Please note, if you run all 15 balls... you rerack and you don't need to pot a ball on the break. This is still counted as the same frame. Good luck everyone and have fun playing.

RED BALL FIRST

Unrated table- First player to successfully sink any red ball after the break, wins the match. IF by chance the cue ball is sunk same time the 8 ball is, its still a win. BIH behind line if scratch.

Rated table- Played same as Regular 8, with the concept of the "red ball" must be sunk last before the 8 ball.

REGULAR 8 BALL

Rated, & Protected Tables.
If the 8 ball goes in on the break, re rack. If a stripe and a solid are potted on the break, do not take ball in hand. NO Cheating, Swearing, Fighting or Abusive language will be tolerated. No FF's, this is grounds for immediate DQ. If a dispute between players can't be resolved TD has the final say in all matters. Yahoo glitches are part of the game. Must move cue ball on break. REGULAR SWISS

Played the same as regular 8 except you have a set amount of rounds, and you can play every round win or loss, unless asked to be taken out. It is possible to have more then one winner in a regular swiss.

RUN MY RACK HONEY

Played on training table with 5 min timer. The object is to clear the table as fast as you can. On break the TD starts timer shoot til all balls are made. If you scratch place the cue/white ball anywhere and continue on. Once last ball is pocketed timer stops. The fastest time wins the round.

SCRATCHLESS

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament, except you are not allowed to miss your colour, pot cue ball, or do anything that will give your opponent ball in hand. If your opponent gets ball in hand at any time during the game, you lose and must forfeit the match to your opponent.

SPEEDBALL

TD invites all players to a private training table. Each player shall take their turn shooting in as many colored balls as possible, in 60 seconds regardless of misses or scratches. The cue ball may only be moved on the break and in the case of a scratch. If you scratch, you may place the cue ball anywhere on the table and resume shooting. Clock Timer begins as soon as your cue hits the rack. If a player is booted at any stage, a timer of only 2 minutes is put on the missing player. Any and all balls that fall after the TD calls "STOP" will not be counted. In the case of a tie, each player will shoot a second rack with a timer of 30 seconds, a tie again drops the timer to 20 seconds for each remaining tie breaker until the tie is broken.

SUICIDE NO BIH

The aim of suicide is to sink the 8 ball as soon as possible, you don't have to sink your balls first. Play on protected unrated tables. You must move the cueball as normal when you break but after that there is no ball in hand at any time during the game. If you scratch when you pot the 8 ball, you lose the game. If you scratch yer opponent must place cue ball anywhere behind the line and shoot at anything not behind the line. If you pot the 8 ball on the break, you do not win the game. TIMED

Played exactly the same way as a regular 1v1 tournament, except the game will have a 5/10/15/20/etc timer set instead of untimed.

TRIPLE THREAT SUICIDE

Unrated table. Just the same as Suicide, one flaw is that TD will name 2 color balls, only way to win is if you sink both the color balls at anytime, then go for 8 asap. If you are s olids/stripes, u must ONLY sink the 2 colors as you are either solids/stripes. YOU MAY NOT sink 8 ball before the 2 colored balls given for the tourney, if so it is game win to opponent.

TRUE SWISS

Played the same as regular 8 except you will play every round, win or loss, unless u asked to be taken out, until there is one player with the most wins

WEAKEST LINK

True Swiss Tourney. All other normal tourney rules apply. Players play every round unless voted off. One loser gets voted off by the winners in each round. The losers will be posted in the lobby and the winners vote one at a time for one of the losers to be voted out. The loser with the most votes is the weakest link and out of the trny. The standard set of rules applies during this tournament.

2VS2 BEST OF 3 BO3

Play on protected rated tables with no timer. Player 1 of Team A will play Player 1 of Team B and Player 2 of Team A will play Player 2 of Team B on seperate tables. If players from the same Team win both games, their team advances to the next round. If players from different teams win each game, the winners play off to decide which team is the overall winner. Coaching of partners is not allowed, and will result in elimination from the tournament. If the 8 ball goes in on the break, re rack. If a stripe and a solid are potted on the break, do not take ball in hand. 5-mins Timer on matches, 10 min in Finals. If one person times out in a round, his partner then has to defeat both of their opponents to progress to the next round. A timer will be placed on the MIA person in the next round, if they return before they time out they are allow ed to play on. No FF's, this is grounds for immediate DQ. If a dispute between players can't be resolved TD has the final say in all matters. 10. Yahoo glitches are part of the game. Must move cue ball on break. Good luck everyone and have fun playing.

2VS2 SHOOT AND STAND

Play on protected unrated tables. Players on the same team take it in turn to shoot. i.e Player 1 will shoot first and stand even if they make it, and their partner will sit and shoot 1 ball, then stand, they will continue to do so, standing after each shot, till they miss, then the opponents do the same, standing after each shot and taking turns. Coaching of partners is not allowed, and will result in elimination from the tournament. If the 8 ball goes in on the break, re rack. If a stripe and a solid are potted on the break, do not take ball in hand. 5-mins Timer on matches, 10 min in Finals. If 1 player is timed out, the TD will sub for them... so the tourney can continue as a 2v2 . NO Cheating, Swearing, Fighting or Abusive language will be tolerated. 2VS2 SHOOT TILL MISS

Play on protected unrated tables. Players on the same team take it in turn to shoot. i.e Player 1 will shoot first and continue to do so until they miss, then they will stand and their partner will sit and shoot until s/he misses, then they will inturn stand and player 1 will sit again, and so on. Coaching of partners is not allowed, and will result in elimination from the tournament. If the 8 ball goes in on the break, re rack. If a stripe and a solid are potted on the break, do not take ball in hand. 5-mins Timer on matches, 10 min in Finals. 10 SHOT

All games are to be played on protected training tables. Matches are played in sets of 1 frame per player. The player sits at the table and resets the table. The player then has 10 shots to sink as many balls as possible. All balls count, even the black. At the end you will have 2 points taken off your score for every scratch. The score for a frame is the number of balls sunk minus 2 points for each scratch. The total score for the match is the sum of the scores for each frame. Following a scratch you must place the cue ball to the left of the line. You must not move any of the balls at any other time. While one player is shooting the other player must count out the number of shots taken. The break counts as the first shot.
